As the peril unfolds, Jimmy finds himself drawn into a perilous journey that will take him far away from the life he had expected to live.
This book was so much fun to read as there are elemental stones, magic, mysterious creatures, and a curious old man who rides hawks!

Dunan took the book in his hand, “Science and magic… How fast would the virus have worked had it been allowed to spread?” “The virus was debilitating. It would have killed the majority of the students within days and probably left both of us bedridden for months. And that’s only the best case scenario.” Dunan looked at Madame Gardos’s scribbled down notes with a particular interest, “And tell me, Headmistress, how many people in this known world are capable of creating this sort of virus?” Madame Gardos leaned against a table behind her, “I didn’t even know this was possible until today. And Dunan, her voice became grave, “we’re not even considering what lies in the unknown regions!”
Would you ever want to have another voice in your head? Maybe a legendary artist like Picasso or a playwright like Shakespeare? Oh, how about a musician like Elvis? Could you imagine that? It might be pretty fun to have Aristotle talking in your head too. But, for Jimmy Chartron, it is a woman who he knows nothing about. As the plot gradually thickens, Michaels provides us with an unforgettable adventure.
Jimmy Chartron has been accepted to the Navale Academy in a city called Eagleon. Soon after arriving, he is drawn to a statue of a woman who lived at the castle over a century ago. Not really knowing anything about her, he suddenly finds himself sharing a space with her, in his head! Never in a millennia did he ever think something as outlandish as being bound to someone’s spirit could ever happen, much less to him. Her mission, while being unclear at first, begins to unfurl as she leads him to secrets about magical creatures, viruses, missing people and unknown regions. As the clues keep adding up and bad things start to happen, Jimmy must race against time to uncover history—a history that someone or a group of someone’s is willing to kill for. How can Jimmy and those who have become close to him, fight an unknown threat when they are virtually invisible and nefariously fast? More importantly, what do they want?
Michaels captivates readers by dropping them into an adventure, filled with lovable and curious characters that give life to the story. There is a clash of science and magic also twisted into this epic adventure as Jimmy, Michael’s main character, travels through forests and cities, on trains and horseback, even in barren lands and snow. This first installment in the Chartron Chronicles is very well-written with little to no spelling or grammatical errors. One of the best aspects of this story is the creativity! Such imagination along with an attractive cover is perfect for a young adult audience. If you are a reader of young adult fantasy, magic, and a little bit of mystery, you are in for a treat with this one. This is the first installment within the series, so feel free to jump right in.
