Review: Hope Over Fear by J.A. DeRouen
About the Book: Today is the day – the day that the man I love marries someone else. I don’t deserve pity or sympathy. I’ve made my bed. I left Mason and ripped his heart to pieces as I ran away. The guilt and sorrow consume me, threatening to choke me everyday.
But today is a new beginning. Today is the day I will wake up with a renewed resolve and determination to do better … to be better … to be worthy. My name is Sara Preston, and this is my story about what happens after.
Review: This story is about a woman named Sara who feels crippled by her insecurities upon finding love. She meets Adam under false pretenses and has to make the decision of right and wrong when everyone from her past labels her as a “cold heartless bitch” for what she did to her best friend, Mason. For one must love one’s self before another can be allowed in; this is essentially the motto of this wonderful web of emotions that the author has spun for us. While reading the story, the reader will be able to empathize with sadness, anger, fear, passion, and hope all throughout the context. This author completes this first novel with intricate detail leaving no room for misconceptions. The reader is also able to view every angle of the story because the author shifts from Sara’s point of view to Adam’s point of view. While you know what both characters are feeling, it is still so inspirational of how these two characters join together as one force of hope, but will it last? I am not one for giving the reader everything that they need to know so they don’t have to read it. Because this is such a fantastic story, I encourage and recommend my club members to read it! The special dinner events within the characters lives really made the story for me. In my opinion, this is such an interesting idea to prolong friendship among a large group of friends. I found that I enjoyed the story more because of these get-together events that they all shared. It is quite interesting how a minor detail within a story can provide a massive impact a great deal more for some readers than others. I am very excited for the author’s next in the series called ‘Wings Over Poppies’ about Alex, Sara’s friend.
