CoverAbout the Book: Jett Costa lost everything when she started drinking: her band, herself, and a second chance at love. Running away from the gaping hole that was her life in New York, she moves to Boston—another music capital on the East Coast, but far enough away from her old life and bitter ex-band members. Starting from scratch isn’t easy—especially when her ex-boyfriend Koty Jackson is tagging along with her.

Jett thinks she has plenty of time to get things rolling, but a phone call reminds her of a show she forgot that she promised to play. The clock is ticking, and Jett has to throw together a passable band—or lose the game before it’s even started.

On top of everything else, Koty wants to rekindle whatever it was they had in New York. Jett is intent on obeying the golden rule of band culture from now on, though. She just has to keep her hands off of Koty and ignore the sizzling sparks that fly between them every time they play together.

Diving Into Him is the first book in the South of Forever series.

WARNING: Diving Into Him is a steamy, edgy New Adult novel written in the third-person limited point of view. Due to graphic themes, it is intended for audiences 18 and older.

Review: I was provided an early copy of Diving into Him in exchange for an honest review and I loved it! This story is a wonderful introduction to Jett Costa’s life as a musician. Her band, Perpetual Smile has crashed and burned so she is ready for a fresh start. When she creates South of Forever, she has assistance from her friend and roommate, Kody Jackson. They have history, but he is determined to keep her on the right track. She can’t go back to drinking again, not after the last time… When Jett finds herself facing some very difficult problems, she doesn’t know who to turn to. Everyone has let her down in the past, but she knows that she can’t let history repeat itself. As her walls come crashing in with some unforeseen news, will she let anyone in?

My favorite character in Diving into Him is Kody. He is the friend that Jett needs; however, she doesn’t see it until it is possibly too late. A former boy band signer, he has now joined South of Forever with Jett and some other recruits including Max from a previous story called The Nanny with the Skull Tattoos. With everything in place, he is headstrong and persistent but that doesn’t mean that he can’t be emotionally hurt. I also like Griff who is another band member. He is a friend to Jett as well and he tries to set her straight when she feels like her life is falling apart. His energy and his focus is captivating and really keeps the band from ending up like the previous one.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this story. I think that I liked being able to relate to the situations in the story revolving around Jett. Her life is not perfect by any means, but she seems to find peace in knowing that she is trying to accomplish her dreams of being a musician through thick and thin. I recommend this story to young adult readers who enjoy fiction. This is a wonderful adaptation of a person who is trying to make her way through life the best way she knows how. I rate this book with five stars due to the originality of the story. The author had a way of pulling me into the story and holding my attention with steady pace and well-developed characters.
