April is Autism Awareness month, shining a global light on the condition an estimated 3 million people in the United States and 70 million people in the world live with every day. 1 in every 68 American children. 1 in every 42 boys. Though Autism is the fastest growing developmental disability, affecting this many, for those outside looking in, it often remains a mystery. This month we hope to shine light and spread compassion for families living with Autism.

In addition to raising awareness, we also want to take action. This is the second LIFT 4 Autism campaign, rallying the romance reading community around this cause. More than 200 authors and bloggers are partnering with this effort, many donating books and other items to an auction the last week of April. Proceeds from this auction will go directly to our charitable partner, Talk About Curing Autism (TACA), a national non-profit organization dedicated to educating, empowering and supporting families affected by autism. Specifically, our efforts will benefit families served through TACA’s scholarship program to offset medical and therapy costs.

Saved from a traumatic past and successful in her present as a home care nurse, Josselyn Adler’s dream of home ownership in the idyllic town of Unity are dashed to pieces when Dr Ben Parnell, a cancer specialist, shows up on her doorstep claiming to be the rightful owner of the house—and Ben has a will to prove it!  To Josselyn, the house represents a new start in her life. With a stable home, hopefully a much wanted family wouldn’t be far behind.

After a near career-ending allegation is made, Ben has returned home to lick his wounds. But now he must prove Josselyn’s claim to be a fake, that she used her position as a live-in nurse to his sick father to ingratiate herself into his good graces. But as he gets to know her, he can tell by her shy, often standoffish behavior, that Josselyn is a woman who has been deeply hurt in her past. Although he is attracted to the dark haired beauty that has invaded his life, he is still suspicious of her true motives and her past involvement with his father.

 Snippet Time!

“This is my house. Morgan Parnell left it to me in his will. Now he…” She paused and pointed at Ben. “He thinks it’s his house.”
“I have a will, too,” Ben loudly interrupted. “And mine is legitimate!”
His deep voice vibrated through her, causing her head to ache. Flustered, she pulled an envelope from her handbag. Morgan’s attorney gave to her a copy of the will a few days earlier. She handed it to Officer Smith. To her dismay, Ben also produced a document from a briefcase.
This is very bad.
She hoped Ben had been bluffing.

6.    Are you currently working on a project, and if so, can you tell us anything about it?
I’m currently anticipating the release of my upcoming fantasy romance, Undoing the Swan Girl.

A Devil in Hong Kong by David Harris Lang

On a snowy day in the year 889, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty had an epiphany: he was not immortal. His jade carver created the most beautiful jade burial suit in history, finishing just three weeks before the Han Emperor died. When the priceless two-thousand-year-old jade burial suit suddenly goes missing in modern Hong Kong, a brutal competition to find it ensues between rival Chinese, Burmese, and Japanese factions. As they battle for the priceless artifact, a psychotic killer with a Maori tattoo on his face surfaces leaving a trail of dismembered corpses strung together like traditional Burmese puppets. Detectives Ian Hamilton and Angela Cheung follow a trail of hacked bodies and terror through contemporary Hong Kong in their search for the killer.

David Harris Lang, a current resident of Hong Kong, has lived and worked in Asia much of his life. Besides being a prolific author of Asian-based thrillers, he is an international architect who brings an indelible sense of place’ to his writing as well as a deep understanding of Asian cultures, locales, and customs. His vivid fight scenes come from a life-long practice of the martial arts. A Devil in Hong Kong is David Lang’s third book.

Author Interview:

If you could live anywhere else besides your current location, where would it be?

So many places, hard to say! Moving around internationally my whole life, wherever I am, I feel at home. The ideal place to live for me would have unspoiled nature adjacent to a city with fabulous architecture, fascinating history, and a complex and unique culture. Oh yeah, important, it needs to be on an ocean. Also, no pollution please.

Are you currently working on a project, and if so, can you tell us anything about it?

The book that I am working on now begins with a body found in the Museum of Medical Sciences in Hong Kong. The man is a Westerner, Clovis O’Sullivan. He is an Irish Traveler and a prominent bareknuckle fighter in Hong Kong for a fight. He is also in a Celtic headbanger band called Blue Dye. As the story progresses we learn that the Clovis and his band are trying to recover the lost Celtic Ring of Camulus which had turned up on the finger of a three thousand-year old Celtic mummy found in Western China. Clovis will travel the Silk Road into the Tamir Basin of Western China. His journey will also take him to the spooky backside of Mount Fuji in Japan (a popular place for Japanese to go to commit suicide), in search of the ring: before turning up dead, of course. A villain emerges, a Japanese woman named Murasaki. Her diabolical plan for mass murder in Hong Kong is connected to Clovis and the Ring of Camulus.

If you weren’t an author, what other profession would you be in?

I am an architect as well as an author. I had always wanted to be a veterinarian growing up, but then decided that I did not want to see hurt animals every day of my life. Besides, I sucked at science.

Marlin’s Faith by A.J. Downey

Faith. She’d managed to keep her
namesake while in captivity, but now that she was free? The daunting task of
rejoining society was in front of her and it seemed that Marlin had too keep it
for her.
Marlin can’t help how he feels about Faith, she was remarkably easy to like.
The only thing he could do for her was be there, and keep his damn hands to
himself, which was the real challenge. Neither one of them knew if she would
make it out of the darkness in tact; only time would tell about that.

During trying times, all you can do is hold on and have a little faith…

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/29335613-marlin-s-faith
I was too warm and my mouth had a funny metallic taste in
it. I was comfortable though, and I didn’t want to get up. Still, my bladder
demanded I move, and eventually it won. It always did.

I sucked in a deep breath to chase back the cobwebs and
opened my eyes. I nearly crossed them to see what it was crammed and blurry in
my field of vision, all pink, white, and yellow.

I backed my head up on the pillow and frowned. A pink iPod
with white headphones coiled neatly next to it, a creamy yellow mini post-it
note clinging to the controls.

Play me, Faith was written in a spidery scrawl on the
post-it in black ink. The writing unfamiliar to me. I sat up on the bed and
looked around the darkened bedroom. No one was there, nothing stirred… I felt
my forehead crush down in a frown.

I looked around the room again, just to be sure, before I
plucked the headphones off the smooth cotton pillowcase. I spent far longer
than was necessary uncoiling them and tucking them into my ears before I
plugged them into the little player. I read and reread the note before plucking
it from the front of the little clip and touching the little triangle button to
make the thing play.

My breath caught, and stilled completely as the first
leading strains of Hope Never Dies spilled from the earbuds. The person playing
the guitar was masterful, the notes solemn and quiet, building and subsequently
building me up, surrounding me, tucking around me like an old and familiar blanket,
or really, bandaging some of the broken bits of me. Holding me together again,
just enough to allow me to mend.

Marlin. It had to be. No one else knew what this song did to
me, for me, in those darkened nights of desolation and ruin. I stared out of the
floor to ceiling obsidian glass, at the faint glimmer of silver as the water
lapped upon the shore and let the music soothe me some more. My nap had done me
some good, calming some of the disquiet of earlier, and I was glad for it. I
let my fingertips idly play with the band of leather and metal around my wrist
and thought about what the boy said to me back in the rank dark of that awful
storage unit.

There are still good people out there, Faith. You gotta
believe me…

Nobody’s Obligation by Rebecca Barber

Ava Jacobs is a shy accountant by day, aspiring romance writer by night—and her first novel just got published…

Romance isn’t a big component of Ava’s life. That is, her real life. As the monotonous nature of crunching numbers and drawn-out board meetings slowly eats away at her, the only bright side to her otherwise mundane routine lies on the black and white pages of her debut romance novel. Her inspiration? A long-time infatuation—Tyler Andrews.

Until the Olympic swimmer read her novel and connected the dots…

Tyler Andrews is used to being the center of attention. But when his sister throws a romance novel in his lap, he’s surprised to be the inspiration for the hot, hunky hero. He has no idea who Ava Jacobs is, but he’s not at all happy with her using his likeness to spice up her steamy scenes. When he finally tracks her down, it’s her likeness that intrigues him.

It takes just one romantic dance at a company banquet to spark disaster…

When Tyler’s manager arranges a daring publicity stunt and offers him as an auction item at Ava’s fundraising banquet, the bids come in quick and hot. Little did Ava expect the winner, a work colleague, to donate Tyler as Ava’s date. With all eyes on the Olympic athlete, Ava can’t refuse a romantic dance. But even though Tyler was the inspiration for Ava’s steamy novel, she refuses to accept his attention if it’s not real.

Will Tyler lose the one woman who caught his interest? Or will Ava push him away in an effort to prove she’s…

Nobody’s obligation.

EXCERPT ONE:
Tyler slumped in the oversized chair wringing his hands nervously, wishing he was anywhere but here, but he couldn’t walk away now. No. It was his fault she was hurt and he would do the right thing. He would stay until he knew she was okay. Until he had the chance to apologise.
“I don’t get it,” he admitted. “What’d I do? I didn’t even speak to her.”
“It’s not you, Tyler,” Christopher assured him with a sly smirk.
Tyler found himself wondering if Christopher had any other faces. In the ten minutes that he had met him, Christopher had half smiled more times than anyone Tyler had ever known. It was the kind of half grin that said ‘I know something you don’t know,’ and Tyler was desperate to discover what was behind it. There was a quiet confidence that Christopher exuded that intimidated the hell out of Tyler and he wasn’t sure where it came from.
“What is it then?” he almost begged, not recognising his own whiny voice. Tyler watched as the men exchanged glances. They were silently debating how much to tell him and how much to keep to themselves. In a way he understood, but he was about to burst with frustration. “Please! Someone just fucking tell me.”
Michael signed heavily, then looked at Christopher, who barely nodded before he began to speak. “It’s not you, Tyler. And it is you.”
“That makes no sense!”
“Tyler, Ava might look like the tough ‘nothing can hurt me’ ice queen, but that is so far from the truth I doubt she can even see reality anymore. Ava is a romantic in every sense of the word. And it’s worse than that. She’s an optimistic romantic. But life has beaten her down so many times that by hiding behind the tough as nails disguise no one can get close enough to hurt her. No one can scale the walls she’s built. No one except you,” Michael explained.
Tyler’s mouth fell open unconsciously as the words sunk in. “B-But she doesn’t even know me,” he mumbled.
“But she does. Tyler, for as long as I have known Ava, you have been her hero in every sense of the word. You’ve been her inspiration. Her guiding light. You were the one thing that was able to pull her from the darkness when it closed in and threatened to swallow her whole,” Christopher added, his voice soft and soothing.

EXCERPT 2:
The sound of the clock ticking was driving him insane. Every second that counted off left Tyler feeling like he was waiting for his own execution. His frustration was boiling. Unable to sit any longer, he stood and paced. A caged lion was calmer. He knew he didn’t have the right to be pissed that she had kept him waiting—she didn’t even know he was there—but that didn’t calm him. He was used to getting his way and for some reason this girl, a girl he’d never set eyes on nor spoken to had gotten under his skin. And now she was keeping him waiting.
Tyler paused and stared out the window, attempting to focus his attention on something else but it didn’t help. Nothing did. The heavily tinted glass just showed him his own reflection, and what he saw scared him. He was tired, dishevelled, and his eyes were wild. “Shit!” Tyler muttered to himself running his huge hands across his face willing himself to calm down. He couldn’t confront her looking like this. She would take off. Screaming. And as much as he wanted to punish her, he wanted to talk to her more. He wanted to know why she had done it, but even more importantly was how. How’d she get into his head and understand him better than even he understood himself without him even knowing?
Hearing voices on the other side of the door made him freeze. For almost twelve hours he’d thought of nothing but this moment, but now it was here he was having second thoughts. It was too late. He was here now. Time to get some answers.
Tyler sunk into the lounge and grabbed a fist full of the nearest cushion. Sucking in deep breaths, he tried repeating reassurances to himself. It wasn’t working. But then he realised it. The anger had faded. The annoyance and frustration were gone. Instead he was filled with nerves like he had never experienced before.
The door creaked open and she appeared. Her face directed down the hallway as she finished her conversation. Her voice washed through his body and suddenly he was calm. Tyler quickly rubbed his clammy hands along his thighs as he rose to meet her. His eyes betrayed him and disclosed his curiosity. Thankful that she was still occupied with finishing up her discussion, he noticed she seemed slightly off balance in her orange pumps. His gaze snuck up her legs appreciatively as an unexpected warmth spread through his body. Clenching his fists, he forced his eyes higher. First he noticed the slight pull of the fabric across her well-endowed chest before landing on the wet spot on the top of her breast, which left it clingy and transparent. A shallow groan tumbled from the back of his throat as he forced his eyes higher and met hers.
Tyler gulped down his embarrassment. He’d been caught blatantly ogling her. He’d come to see her, to yell at her and make her apologise. Yet somehow, without even trying or knowing it, she had completely turned the tables on him.
Her eyes went wide as she realised who was standing before her. An involuntary gasp choked out only seconds before she paled and fell to the floor in an unconscious pile.
Rebecca, one of four kids to her parents who are both primary school teachers, was born in Wollongong on the south coast of Australia before moving to the country with her family. After a few years of embracing all that country life had to offer, the family relocated to Port Macquarie with its white sand beaches. After a brief period enjoying the sun and the surf they finally settled in Canberra where Rebecca still lives today. But all through her childhood a notepad and a book where never far away. These days Rebecca is an avid reader, and when she isn’t buried in a book or cheering on her beloved football team she’s spending time with her husband Robert and their overly spoilt dog Levi.

“Rhys?”

His name rushes from my mouth on a breath, and I’m off the bed, hurling myself at him top speed. Somehow my legs wrap around his waist and my arms tangle behind his neck. I couldn’t hold back and play this cool if I wanted to. Every part of me that’s been fighting to stay focused, to keep working, to be on, collapses against him. Surrenders to the feel of him in my arms and the smell of him. My fingers lace through his hair. I scatter kisses across his face, the sharp angles and taut skin warm beneath my lips.

“So I take it you’re happy to see me?” He chuckles, pressing his forehead to mine, hands squeezing my thighs.

“Happy?” I release something that’s half a sob, half a laugh, pulling back a few centimeters to let him breathe. “What gave you that idea?”

We stop grinning at the same time, laughter dissolving, our bodies exchanging sensual information. My breasts flattened to his chest. His erection growing and hardening against my core. Our breaths mingling and hearts tattooing beats through our clothes and into the other’s skin.

I move first, leaning in to capture his bottom lip between mine, sucking and pulling between my teeth. Licking into his mouth like there’s honey hidden inside. He groans into the kiss, walking backward until we reach the bed and dropping me so I bounce a little, his eyes roving over me head to toe.

“Pep, what the hell are you wearing?” Humor and desire tussle in his eyes.

I look down, laughing when I see the young Jackson brothers emblazoned across my chest, my legs ending in the footed bottoms.

“If I’d known you were coming, I could have made sexier arrangements.”

“Arrangements?” He quirks a dark brow, placing a knee on either side of my legs, hovering over me like a promise. “Lingerie would have been nice. Other rock stars have girlfriends who wear lingerie.”

“Oh, are you referring to yourself as a rock star now?” I grin up at him, feeling whole for the first time since he kissed me goodbye a week ago. “That’s not egomaniacal at all. Is there a club? You guys have rock star meetings? Does one of you take rock star minutes?”

“You are sitting in here listening to my music in the dark.” He leans forward to tug at the zipper beneath my chin. “Maybe you’re actually one of my crazed fans. Or a groupie. I might even find a Mrs. Rhyson Gray t-shirt around here somewhere. My girlfriend doesn’t like those.”

“No, she doesn’t.” I shake my head, eyes never straying from his.

A small frown jerks his brows together. He tugs again at the zipper, but it doesn’t budge.

“Pep, it’s stuck,” he says.

“Sometimes it does that,” I answer easily, enjoying the frustration spreading over his expression as he keeps pulling and it keeps staying.

He places my hand over his cock, hard and poking through his jeans.

“Well, it’s not exactly a good time for it to do that.”

I laugh, grasping my zipper and tugging. Wow, it really is stuck. These are vintage PJs, older than I am and threadbare in places. I’m surprised the zipper hasn’t rusted before now. I sit up, bringing our bodies closer as I jiggle the little hook a few times. Nothing.

“Just how attached are you to this Jackson Five onesie?” His glance burns hot across my subtle curves visible through the thin flannel, telegraphing his intentions.

“Well this is Michael’s original nose.” I release a fake exasperated sigh. “But I do have my sewing kit.”

“All I needed to hear.”

Sorry, boys.

He grabs the two ends of the collar separated by the zip line and pulls until there’s a ripping sound, the panels falling back to reveal my naked breasts and my panties. A wicked grin spreads across lips.

“You naughty girl.” He runs a finger over the writing on the front of my calendar panties, carrying a current that simultaneously hitches my breath and gets me wet. “Wearing Monday panties on a Thursday. My little rebel.”

“we have four teams,” Commander Mitchell said. “Each team has been assigned a historian advisor and a medical team. You, Lieutenant Blake, are Alpha team. You’re going back for the first warrior in two days’ time. Your historian will give you the information you need to rescue him. Once you get him back here the medical team and the Council will take over. If he decides to stay he’ll be assigned to your squad. We expect the men we save to help us bring back more soldiers and supplies while we familiarize them with our world. Any other questions?”
“Yes, ma’am,” Sunny said. “Who am I retrieving?”
“Jefferson W. Stone,” Commander Mitchell said.
“The twenty-third? The one who died in 2125?” Sunny had to work hard to keep the excitement from her voice.
Commander Mitchell nodded. “We thought it was appropriate to choose him first since this is the twenty-third century.”
General Davis stood. “Lieutenant Blake, get some rest and report to your historian at zero six hundred. At this time, we’ve covered everything and you’re all dismissed.”
Sunny and the other lieutenants saluted then left the room. Once they were out of sight of the Council chambers the squad leaders surrounded Sunny and the ribbing began.
“Wow! Jefferson W. Stone the Twenty-third! Your all-time huge crush!” Kelby Barker said, then laughed.
Before Sunny could answer, Ginny Johnson piped up, “According to his biography you’re his type. Tall and curvy with big,” she held her hands at her chest then moved them out several inches and laughed.
“Maybe we should put her in a chastity belt. We might have one in storage somewhere,” Lieutenant Jo Miller said.
“There’s no need,” Sunny said.
“No need? He’s all you ever talked about after you saw his picture in his biography,” Lieutenant Dean said. “And, by the way, we know you tore his picture out of the book.”
“You can’t prove that.” Sunny laughed. “Remember I’ve read his biography‐.”
“You mean you’ve practically memorized it,” Jo said.
“I prefer to say I’ve studied his book but either way I know his secrets. I think I can handle him.” The initial excitement she’d felt was sinking in and becoming a reality. What would it be like to stand next to him? To be able to reach out and touch him? A man from the past that she’d never dreamt she’d meet much less have a chance to get to know. Stone was a man’s man and he’d appeared in most of her dreams for the last eleven years.
“The book says a lot of women have handled him,” Lieutenant Douglas said then winked and added, “Or rather he handled them.”
“They say when he died, the women he made love to grieved for him for the rest of their lives,” Lieutenant Dean said with an envious heartfelt sigh.
“Bull crap,” Sunny said. “They probably said good riddance, got married, and never gave him another thought.”
Ginny laughed. “Well, just in case we get lucky, and he’s as horny and energetic as his biography says, I’m going to the clinic to see if they have any kind of contraceptives.”
“I’ll come with you,” Kelby said.
“Me, too.” Jo said then looked at Sunny. “Coming?”
“No and all of you need to remember I called dibs on Stone ten years ago. So hands off, ladies.”
“That was just a game we played at your sixteenth birthday party,” Jo said.
“Too bad. Dibs are dibs,” Sunny said. “Jo, you claimed Calder Campbell. Ginny you claimed Blade Lawrence and Kelby you claimed Gideon Williams. I’m enforcing the claim on Stone.”
“Spoilsport,” Ginny said.
Sunny laughed and hurried away while inside one phrase repeated in her mind‐hot damn, I’m going to meet Jefferson Wakefield Stone in the flesh!

Exclusive Excerpt:

I hand him the glass. “We’re back to spitting insults, hm? What is this, Alex’s nine circles of booze hell?”

He pulls me toward him, and suddenly I find myself in his lap, straddling him. “No, but since going to hell is inevitable,” he says, his lips brushing the spot between my two ladies. “I might as well enjoy the ride.”

I keep telling myself he’s drunk. Doesn’t change the fact that I want to unzip his freaking jeans, though. “You’re out of your mind if you think I’m screwin’ you, Alex.”

“Am I?” He runs his thumbs over my bra, turning my nipples into rocks. “Then why does your heart beat like the overheated engine of my Mustang?”

“It does not,” I insist.

He pushes up, and his hard-on presses against my sweet spot. “Yeah. Yeah, it does.”

I dig my nails into his shoulders. “Alex,” I moan, trying to get off him. “Stop it, please.” It’s supposed to sound like a goddamn order, but comes out as desperate begging.

His hands glued to my ass, he tugs me against his chest. “I know you want me.” He kisses down my neck. “You always want me. Just admit it,” he says, pulling my shirt up.

I close my eyes. Hips rocking back and forth, I enjoy the feeling of the fabric rubbing against my heat. I do want him. Fuck, I need him, but he’s like a drug, makes you high and leaves you dry and boneless. “Alex, please…stop.”

“Just one night.” His husky voice makes my toes curl. “For the sake of old times. What do you say?”
