Review: I wanted to read a nice Christmas Romance to get me into the holiday spirit; therefore, I picked up this short story and gave it a read. Regan Walker is a new author for me so I had no prior knowledge of her writing style but soon enough found that I absolutely loved it upon reading the first chapter alone! I could not put it down and so I read the whole story in one night. The descriptions were vivid enough to allow me to picture everything which made the short story even more tantalizing. The emotions were raw and the pace of the story was perfect! When reading any story, I want to be able to relate to the characters. Emily and William’s love story is timeless and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to read about the inner turmoil that both characters face. In my opinion, when an author portrays an imperfect or fearful characters, this always makes the story better because it includes a human factor that everyone can relate to. For Emily, she is not looking for a husband because of the harshness staining her past and William carries his father’s crutch regarding London and it’s people. For William, he meets Emily and it is love at first site; however, Emily has the reputation of turning her suitors away. His determination to win her heart made my heart bleed for this character and truly sympathize with his many attempts to woo her into marriage and much more. Overall, my impression of this story is very positive. Her vocabulary is stunning and the descriptions leap out of the story and draw me in. I love the historical emphasis that is placed in the story as well. It takes a lot of time and effort to get the facts right and then to write about them. I would recommend this author to any of my club members that love to read Romance.
