Review: All Riled Up by Elizabeth Barone
ABOUT THE BOOK: Riley has had a crush on her best friend Max since high school, but he far from returns the favor—even after she stood by his side when his girlfriend got pregnant. Years later, she still can’t shake her feelings for him. When he posts an ad online for a live-in nanny because of a joke that she made, Riley loses her mind. It’s time for her to get over Max once and for all—but the dating scene after high school is even more brutal than she imagined. “All Riled Up” is a 5,000-word short story that takes place during the events of the novel, THE NANNY WITH THE SKULL TATTOOS.

REVIEW: This is a very short story. I have already read The Nanny with the Skull Tattoos and enjoyed it; however, I wanted to read a little more about Riley. She is Max’s best friend; however, Max has never viewed Riley as anything other than one of the guys. Riley decides to move on and try to get over Max so this is where this short story begins. I liked reading about Riley’s personality, her weaknesses and strengths. Yet, mistakes are not beyond anyone and that is how we learn and grow. I rate this story with four stars since it was intriguing and well written. I wished that it was a little longer and I am really hoping to read more of Riley’s story in the future.
