“Can we be totally fulfilled, satisfied in our humanity?
The purpose of being in humanity is to feel the gap between your original oneness with Source and what occurred upon incarnation. The momentary separation of your essence from your Source causes you to be in pain, whether you admit it or not, and therefore, its a motivation to experience life and recover the lost pieces. You will feel fulfilled in your humanity once you have recovered all of yourself because then your earthly experience will be one of delight and free creativity.”

Excerpt: “It’s my best shot. Only one of us is walking away from this and right now my upper hand is that Marcus thinks it will be him.”

Dennis stepped off the cage and blew out a long breath. “She doesn’t know, does she?”

“No. It’s for the best. Ana thinks we’re planning how we move forward on this together.”

Over the last couple of weeks, the pieces of the puzzle had slowly been slotting into place, and more and more I was realizing it was something set into motion a long time ago.

“If shit goes south, I need to know you’ll protect her. Even if it means getting her out of Chastity Falls. She’d never leave if I asked her to, she’s stubborn and she thinks we’re in this together.”

I hated lying to Ana, but it was better for her to draw her own conclusions than for me to admit that only one of us could walk away from this—Marcus or me. It would crush her. I couldn’t do it to her. To us.

“You know I will, but does it have to go down like this?” Dennis’ Adam’s apple bobbed and the desperation in his voice caught me off guard. “Is there no other way? Maybe we could go to someone for help?”

Scrubbing a hand through my hair I leaned back against the lockers and said, “This is the only way. We both know it. This is exactly the way Marcus planned it.”

The door swung open and the rest of the team filed in. I threw Dennis a look that I hope conveyed my gratitude.

I owed him my life.

I just hoped I didn’t have to pay up.

Review: Tribulation and Truths is the third book in the Chastity Falls Series by the lovely L.A. Cotton. Since I have read both book one and two, I was provided the opportunity to read an early copy in exchange for my honest review of this one. This third novel picks back up with Jackson and Ana moving into a new house on the edge of Chastity Falls. Jackson must abide by Marcus now, since he has agreed to take Braiden’s place within the family business. He feels that this is the only way that he can find a way to get both him and Ana out of Chastity Falls—for good. Marcus begins giving him more responsibility, which is meant to be a test of sorts. He is always trying to test Jackson’s loyalty and apparently, everyone knows that Jackson is well respected—just like his father. When Jackson learns of a secret that Marcus has been keeping away from the rest of his ‘business partners’, he becomes completely obsessed with finding out the truth—even if that means that he pushes Ana to the brink of breaking…again. The only way that they get out of this alive is if they know the truth, so Jackson feels that his decision to hold those that he loves the most at arms-length is the best possible solution until the end. Will all of the battles that Jackson and Ana have fought over the past couple of years be all for nothing?

My favorite characters in this third book are Dennis and Frankie. Dennis is the loyal friend to Jackson and agrees to assist with protecting Ana. His loyalty runs deeps and I really enjoyed reading about his character. I would love to read more if the author decides to write about Dennis and his struggle through the life that he has been given. Frankie is the other character who seemed very cold and heartless at first, hanging back in the shadows and never showing his face. However, once Jackson talks to him a little more, he discovers that he has his ticket out of Chastity Falls…if everything goes according to plan. Frankie is smart, honest, loyal, and was a very good friend of Jackson’s father. One of my least favorite characters in this story is Briony. The author does a wonderful job of creating the ultimate ‘bitch’ complex for this character. She has taunted Ana in the past and continues to do her best in this one too. Overall, the characters really fit their parts well and the pace was nice and steady.

I would recommend this novel to those who have read the first two in this series. Since this is not a standalone, it would be very confusing and difficult to read without knowing the previous struggles and life-altering situations that the characters have already faced in books one and two. The author has so much creativity bundled into all of her books, which left me unsure as to how Jackson and Ana would attempt freedom until the second half of this book. Tribulation and Truths deserves five stars because it is original, entertaining, suspenseful, and I just couldn’t put it down. I am looking forward to the fourth in the series which will hopefully come out early 2016.

Cover Reveal: Storms Over Secrets by J.A. DeRouen

Storms Over Secrets CoverTitle: Storms Over Secrets (Over #3)

Author: J.A. DeRouen

Genre: New Adult

Release Date: September 14, 2015

Cover Design: Mae I Design And Photography

Synopsis: Promises are lies dressed up for the party. Secrets poison the fairest of fairy tales.
Lies stain the purest of loves.

I’ve paid the ultimate price for my choices. The tendrils of those sins bind me to my past. The remnants of my love hold me captive.

Then he walks into my life, and makes me believe in second chances. He awakens feelings in me I know I shouldn’t have. I yearn for a future without guilt. With him, I dream of a love untainted.

Regret is a far-reaching emotion. It barrels through time like a blazing comet, and its path isn’t always straight. No matter what I feel, I cannot bring myself to regret the time I’ve spent with Cain.

But it doesn’t mean I can have him.

My name is Celia Lemaire and this is my story of broken promises.

Storms Over Secrets is the third book in The Over Series, a group of interconnected standalone novels.goodreads

Excerpt: Celia rips the book from my hands and shelters it in her chest behind crossed arms. “Ha ha! You think you’re so funny. I especially like your squeaky rendition of the maiden,” she says, managing to look embarrassed and pissed all at once.

“Ah, you liked that, did you? I tried my best to do that fine piece of literature justice.” I cross my arms and grin smugly.

“It is, in fact, a fine piece of literature,” she says as she pulls the book from her chest and checks out the cover. “The Affairs of the Duke of Hamptonshire is very thought-provoking.”

“Oh, I’m sure it provokes something,” I say with a chuckle as I grab the book from her hands and flip to the back cover. “’Join the Duke as he ravages innocent maidens throughout London.’ I have to say—I think it’s fan-fucking-tastic that you read books like this. You just surprised me, that’s all.”

Celia releases a huge, pent-up sigh and falls next to me on the couch. She shrugs and twists her hands in her lap. “Marlo got it for me. She prefers the rock star romance books, but she thought I may appreciate something a little more … old fashioned.”

“Like English royalty?”

“Well, yeah,” she whispers, her lips turning to a slight frown and the blush from her cheeks creeping across her face and down her neck. “Since I don’t date, I don’t … well, you know … so she thought this would be a good way to release some tension.”

I resist the smile tugging on my lips because I don’t want her to think I’m making fun of her, but damn if she isn’t the cutest fucking thing I’ve ever seen.

“It seems to me this book would only serve to build up more tension, but what do I know?” I keep my voice in the most serious tone I can muster.

“She’s ordering me something for that, too,” she says before slamming her hand over her mouth, completely shocked by what she just revealed.

“Oh no you don’t,” I order, pulling her hand from her mouth. “You can’t drop a bomb and clam up on me. Celia Lemaire are you getting a—”

She turns her head, closes her eyes, and scrunches her face. The thought of Celia lying in her bed, reading a smutty book, with a battery-operated device has my dick at attention and blood coursing through my veins at high speed. I want to throw my hands up in the air, hollering, “I volunteer as tribute!” This little project has my name written all over it, but she just doesn’t know it yet.

“Uh uh,” I say as I tug her chin up and make her meet my eyes. I continue my questioning with a scandalous whisper. “Are you getting a … vibrator?”

“Ugh! If there is a God, will He please swallow me up into the ground to avoid this embarrassment? I think I’m going to die,” she cries as she covers her face with both hands and nosedives into my lap.

Watch your aim, little fairy, or you’re about to get WAY more than you bargained for!

I stealthily shift my position to keep her from bumping my boner. It’s been only a day since my vow to man up and make my move. But I don’t think this situation could be any more perfect. Celia, head in my lap, already primed with a lady boner thanks to Duke Hamptonshire?

Thank you, universe. I owe you for this one.

Promo Blitz: Before We Were Strangers by Renee Carlino

bwwsbanner2From the USA TODAY bestselling author of Sweet Thing and Nowhere But Here comes a love story about a Craigslist “missed connection” post that gives two people a second chance at love fifteen years after they were separated in New York City.

To the Green-eyed Lovebird:
We met fifteen years ago, almost to the day, when I moved my stuff into the NYU dorm room next to yours at Senior House.
You called us fast friends. I like to think it was more.
We lived on nothing but the excitement of finding ourselves
through music (you were obsessed with Jeff Buckley), photography (I couldn’t
stop taking pictures of you), hanging out in Washington Square Park, and all
the weird things we did to make money. I learned more about myself that year
than any other.
Yet, somehow, it all fell apart. We lost touch the summer
after graduation when I went to South America to work for National Geographic.
When I came back, you were gone. A part of me still wonders if I pushed you too
hard after the wedding…
I didn’t see you again until a month ago. It was a
Wednesday. You were rocking back on your heels, balancing on that thick yellow
line that runs along the subway platform, waiting for the F train. I didn’t
know it was you until it was too late, and then you were gone. Again. You said
my name; I saw it on your lips. I tried to will the train to stop, just so I
could say hello.
After seeing you, all of the youthful feelings and memories
came flooding back to me, and now I’ve spent the better part of a month
wondering what your life is like. I might be totally out of my mind, but would
you like to get a drink with me and catch up on the last decade and a half? ~M

Heart-Shaped Hack
EXCERPT

Kate was taking a break and having coffee and a muffin at Wilde Roast Café when Ian slid into the booth and sat across from her. He was wearing a lightweight cream-colored sweater with a tan-and-green-patterned shirt underneath, and he smelled good.

“Hello again.”

Confused, Kate looked around. “Where did you come from?”

“I walked in the door like everyone else.”

“Do you live nearby?” Kate lived in the St. Anthony Main neighborhood of Northeast Minneapolis. The food pantry was conveniently located on SE Main Street, which was a short three-block walk from her apartment. The quiet brick-paved street was lined with restaurants, shops, and a movie theater and included a stunning view of the Mississippi River and St. Anthony Falls. There were also bars that featured live music and plenty of green space in nearby parks.

He shook his head. “Not really.”

“Then why are you here?”

“I felt like talking to you again. You’re seated, so you probably won’t try to strangle me this time.”

“How did you know where to find me?” She was tucked away in a back booth instead of one of the tables near the windows that looked out over SE Main, so it wasn’t like he’d walked by and spotted her.

He held a steaming cup of coffee and blew on it to cool it. “I tracked your credit card activity. According to Capital One, you bought a cup of coffee and a muffin here twelve minutes ago.”

“You tracked my credit card?” Her voice sounded rather loud and shrieky.

He held a finger in front of his mouth. “Shh, Katie Long Legs. That information is for your ears only. How’s your coffee? Would you like a refill?”

Kate did not appreciate being shushed, but she lowered her voice. “Are you some kind of cyberthief?” she whispered. And since when were criminals so well-dressed and impeccably groomed?

“I did not steal your credit card number. I simply accessed your account to see where and when you’d used it last. Then I came here.”

“If you wanted to talk to me again, why didn’t you just go to the food pantry?”

He looked at her like it was obvious. “Because you’re not there. You’re here at this café.”

“If you’re not a cyberthief, then what are you?”

“I’m a hacker.”

“Is there a difference?”

“Most definitely.”

“When you said you steal from the rich to give to the poor, I thought you were kidding. Is that how you get the money?”

“I don’t steal it. I appropriate it from people who shouldn’t have it in the first place. Then I give it to those who are more deserving.”

Kate twisted her napkin. “I can’t keep the money. I’ve already spent the first two donations, but if you come back to the food pantry with me, I can return the most recent one. It’s still locked in the safe because I wasn’t planning on going shopping until tomorrow.”

“No, Katie. I don’t want it back. It’s for you. It’s for the babies.”

“It’s wrong,” she said quietly.

“Is it?”

“It’s against the law.”

“Trust me when I say the people I took it from don’t want the law involved any more than I do.”

“What are you saying? That you’re a thief who steals from other thieves?”

He wrinkled his nose, and it was adorable.

Stop! Thief!

“It sounds so distasteful when you say it like that. I prefer master appropriator of ill-gotten funds. You can call me master for short.”

“I have lots of things I’d like to call you. Master is not one of them.”

Locks: Rapunzel Unhinged by Sarah J Pepper

22802281About the Book: Rapunzel isn’t the stereotypical Damsel in Distress. Her Bad-Boy Prince Charming is a renowned mercenary, and their Happy Ending plays out like a bad movie. However, she is determined to breakout from her tower prison—love be damned—and do it in a fabulous pair of heels. *** Gunned down by the Mercenary, the deadliest assassin in The Badass Archives, isn’t exactly Rapunzel’s end-game. Falling for him isn’t either, but his Rated-R demeanor is strangely charming. Even though most girls wouldn’t fall for their captors, Rapunzel isn’t like most dames. Her major girl-boner for the Mercenary is so pathetic it verges on cliché. Yet, in spite of his appeal, Rapunzel must escape before she’s locked away in the Château de Immortelle’s highest tower—forever.

Sarah J. Pepper

About the Author: I specialize in dark, paranormal romance – think “happy ever after” but with a twisted, dark chocolate center. Real-life romance isn’t only filled with hugs, kisses, unicorns, and rainbows. True-love can be more thoroughly described in times of darkness and tribulation. It’s in those harsh moments where you see what a person is truly capable of – both the good and bad. Sometimes prince-charming isn’t always on time, and the glass slipper is a little snug. However, it doesn’t mean Charming is not Mr. Right, and who says every shoe is the perfect fit?

“Warning: Addictive passion erupts from her mouthwatering descriptions” – recent review.

Sarah J. Pepper lives in South Dakota with her real-life prince charming. At a young age, she fell for paranormal books and now incorporates that genre with romance that thrives in the hearts of us all. When she’s not storytelling, she’s most likely biking, hoarding chocolate, or taking a bubble bath. Get a glimpse inside her head at www.peppersreadingcorner.com

Locks 1 (Sarah J Pepper)

Review: When I first saw this cover, I really wanted to read it! Rapunzel looked so bad-ass up in her tower with the tattoos covering her forearms and the locks around her wrist–not to mention, the hair looks pretty awesome as well! I love fairy tales and what is better for me is that the author specializes in twisted fairy tales. So, this book begins with Rapunzel being chased down by an assassin that was sent by an evil sorceress to bring her back to her high tower. She had previously escaped and was attempting to find a good hiding place among the mundane population outside of the sorceress’ realm.  The assassin, Flynn and his so-called maniac girlfriend, Kinsley are out for blood and they will not hesitate to kill her if things start to go badly. With ten rounds fired into Rapunzel’s body from the assassin’s gun, she can only fall to the ground and start the healing processes so that she doesn’t die from blood loss. When she wakes up, she is back in that hell hole of a tower with Taryn, the sorceress who has kept her prisoner for her own personal gain. Why, she has no clue but she does know one thing. She has tasted freedom and she will see to it that Taryn does not hold her forever…she will know freedom again even if it kills her.

My friends will die. Your friends will die. Many will die. But I will fight alongside you because you will not ask that of me. So, fight I must.

The best characters in this novel are Rapunzel and Flynn, in my opinion. I also really loved the portrayal of Prometheus in this story as well. Since the beginning, Rapunzel was honest, brave, sophisticated and not afraid of violence. Her tact and personality are so enigmatic that I couldn’t help being drawn to her character. She was fun to read about because her entire persona was that of an innocent girl looking for her freedom in all of the wrong places. Her assassin, Flynn keeps telling her that she is not too smart since he could always find her or the fact that she couldn’t figure out why Taryn was in much need of her imprisonment. His demeanor is always a mystery up until the very end of the book, which is stunning!! The author allows the reader to have their own perception of the characters in question as far as what side they are truly on until the finality. I was happy to know that I guessed right, but there were a few times that I thought maybe I was wrong and the author would throw out another plot twist. Prometheus seems to be very powerful; yet, he too has become a part of Taryn’s vast collection. All other characters were fascinating and brought many variations of perceptions and depth to the story; however, these three were my favorite.

My friends will die. Your friends will die. Many will die. But I will fight alongside you because you will not ask that of me. So, fight I must.

Overall, I loved this story and congratulate the author on such a well-rounded twisted version of Rapunzel. I recommend this one to anyone who enjoys Fantasy and Paranormal genres. I also rate Locks: Rapunzel Unhinged with five stars since I found it extremely difficult to put it down once I started. The originality and creativity of the novel are astounding and the darkness that surrounds every character is so enticing! The pace was fast, but I really enjoy fast-paced reads since they keep the story flowing. I was able to envision almost every scene and both Rapunzel and Flynn’s appearances were in my head with clear and preformed images based solely on description alone. The author’s words are so powerful and the passion that is conveyed in her novels continue to amaze me. I absolutely can’t wait until her fourth Twisted Fairy Tale Confessions book is released so that I can read it up!!

The Sin Trilogy by Georgia Cates

Post originally published on August 13, 2015

I’ve watched him from afar for years. And he has no idea. I take joy in that. Through my observations, I’ve learned what makes this charming villain tick.

Whisky.

Power.

Beautiful women.

And Sex. Lots of it.

Sometimes you must get into bed with the enemy for the greater good. And that’s what I’ll do; it’s all part of making Sinclair Breckenridge fall in love with me so I can penetrate his inner circle.

There’s hell to pay.

I’m a dark horse. The perfect storm.

I am Bleu MacAllister. And I’m coming for him.

Bleu MacAllister’s POV:

“You better be worth all this work and waiting.” He nips my bottom lip and gives my ass another painful squeeze before turning to walk to his car.

Anticipation—it builds excitement and suspense. The brain really is a sexual organ, even for men. Sin is going to spend the next five days and nights fantasizing about what it’ll be like when he finally has me beneath him. Waiting is something he’s never had to do so this is another way of setting me apart from the others before me. It proves I’m worth the wait and far more than just fuckworthy.

I’ve watched her from afar for weeks. And she has no idea.

Bleu MacAllister ran from me three months ago. She thought she could disappear from my life. My beloved believed I’d let her go.

Wrong.

Bleu says I won’t find her; she changes like a chameleon. Wrong, again. Some things remain unaltered. She’s still beautiful. Sexy as hell. And I want her more than my next breath.

The circumstances bringing us together have changed. It’s a precarious situation because my bonny lass is a hunted traitor. But I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe.

She will be my wife.

I am Sinclair Breckenridge. And I’m coming for her.

Excerpt
Sinclair’s POV
I’m in the background of Bleu’s life, as I have been for weeks. I have eyes on her at all times, even when they’re not my own. I safeguard her from harm. It’s all I’ve done since tracking my lass down in a small town in Mississippi, right outside of Memphis. I act as her protector from afar and she has no idea. She believes she’s hidden from The Fellowship—and me—but she couldn’t be more wrong. I’m always here, keeping a watchful eye on her and the MacAllister family.
I often need to be reminded that this is Bleu’s world. Every person she has contact with isn’t a threat but there’s an enormous problem with that. I have no idea who’s friend or foe.
I was concerned when Bleu disappeared at the bar with a man earlier tonight. I was on the verge of barging into the back until my lass came out on stage to perform with the band. I don’t think I’ve ever been so surprised in all my life. I knew she played but I never pegged her for a public performer. That doesn’t seem like my Bonny at all.
But I guess I don’t really know the real Bleu MacAllister. I only know the woman she pretended to be.

Sinclair Breckenridge is my husband. We’re up and coming leaders to The Fellowship and parents to be. But my new life doesn’t come easily. Not when long buried secrets––and far more than I bargained for––finally reveal my mother’s killer. Sin vows to do anything to keep our little ones and me safe, even if his promise means denying me of the one thing I want most in this world. He doesn’t understand it’s the death of my dream. And that’s a problem.

Georgia resides in rural Mississippi with her wonderful husband, Jeff, and their two beautiful daughters. She spent fourteen years as a labor and delivery nurse before she decided to pursue her dream of becoming an author and hasn’t looked back yet.
When she’s not writing, she’s thinking about writing. When she’s being domestic, she’s listening to her iPod and visualizing scenes for her current work in progress. Every story coming from her always has a song to inspire it.
